EDUCATION & CONSULTANCY

'Our vision is to provide all young people (aged 16-25) across Wales with access to industry knowledge, opportunities, networks and skills necessary to carve sustainable careers and new business models in the Welsh music industry.'

As part of our outreach work, we are keen to forge new partnerships with organisations and educational partners from across Wales and find ways to help young people.

Our expertise and guidance has enabled young people to access new opportunities, develop vital skills and expand their networks within the music industry sector of Wales. If you and/or your organisation would like to discuss opportunities to work together, we'd love to hear from you.'

In 2022, Beacons Cymru partnered with the Music Technology course at Coleg Y Cymoedd to deliver a three month series of music industry masterclasses for its young Level 4 learners.

The topics we covered were:

  • Building an image and identity

  • Creative outputs and building a platform

  • Songwriting and finding inspiration

  • Market awareness

  • Building relationships with clients/fans

  • Music industry awareness

  • Creating opportunities and how to get paid

  • Devising marketing strategies and implementing marketing campaigns

Our industry masterclasses helped learners to develop their potential to work in industry and highlighted opportunities that previously seemed unattainable.

During late 2022, Beacons Cymru was invited to submit a proposal on how music industry knowledge, networking and skills-based learning could be introduced to the Conwy region in North Wales.

Working alongside the Creu Conwy team, a new Cultural Strategy for a County, as part of the Winter Sounds programme, Beacons Cyrmu successfully brought new opportunities through its 'Basecamp' format over a two day period.

Beacons Cymru engaged with a range of local organisations, education partners and industry professionals, including Tape Music & film, to host a series of regionally focused conversations, workshops and live music showcases.

TESTIMONIALS

“The level four course that we're delivering is an artist development course, so it bridges the gap between education and industry. So having people like Richard & Spike and the Beacons staff come in, is very valuable to pass on that industry experience to the students.”
