PORTERS (HARLECH COURT, Bute Terrace, Cardiff CF10 2FE)
Flourish is Beacon's wellbeing and mental health discussion platform, providing insight and advice for young industry practitioners and creatives. This panel will see the launch of our collaborative venture with Mental Health First Aid Wales in the form of our Flourish Podcast which will discuss taboo topics within the industry in a frank and relatable way. It will also coincide with our video toolkit series in collaboration with Be Extra - Wellbeing for the arts.
Alongside this, our panel will talk about their experiences in the industry all from different perspectives.
Ella is in their fourth and final undergraduate year studying oboe and cor anglais at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (where she will be commencing on a postgraduate performance degree in September 2022) under the expertise of Steven Hudson, Lucie Sprague and Patrick Flanaghan. She is a founding member of The Olive Collective, a jazz and folk-influenced piano, oboe/cor anglais and cello trio, who gig regularly. Recently, Ella was commended in the Crowthers of Canterbury Oboe Prize - adjudicated by Armand Djikoloum - where she performed the self-composed piece ‘Awakening at Gokyo Ri’ for oboe, percussion and electronics, which she wrote in 2021.
Ella is also an outspoken music and mental health advocate; she has had writing featured by Anthem. Music Fund Wales and speaks regularly about being a musician with Borderline Personality Disorder. Ella’s new music and mental health podcast, ‘Don’t Mind the Music’, is due to be released in 2022.
